Kendall County Leader Joins Board of Directors
John Church, former chairman of the Kendall County Board and an individual with a lifetime's interest in how people interact with natural resources and agriculture, has joined the Board of Directors of Fox Valley United Way. While on the County Board, he also served for several years as President of the Kendall County Forest Preserve District. Church's experience in the Kendall Co. non-profit community "will add significantly to our deliberations and discussions," FVUW Board Chair Gail Bumgarner said in announcing Church's election to the Board. For example, Church is a past president of the Kendall Co. United Fund, which became part of what today is Fox Valley United Way in 2004.
He currently is a member of both the Kendall Co. Health Department Environmental Advisory Committee and the Northeast Illinois Groundwater Protection Planning Committee. He has also been a volunteer for PADS and CROP, as well as serving in the past on several community committees such as the Kendall County Mental Health Board and the Kendall County Environmental Task Force. He also is a former trustee of The Conservation Foundation.
Professionally, Church served for 35 years on the staff of the University of Illinois Extension Service, most recently as a natural resources educator at the Rockford Extension Center and previously serving in the Kendall County office.
He resides in Oswego township with his wife Mary.
Fox Valley United Way provides support for more than 50 social services agencies serving Aurora, Big Rock, Bristol, Hinckley, Little Rock, Millbrook, Montgomery, Mooseheart, North Aurora, Oswego, Plano, Plattville, Sandwich, Sugar Grove and Yorkville.
