St. Charles Attorney Joins Fox Valley United Way's Board

Julie Proscia, an attorney and partner in the St. Charles office of Chicago-headquartered law firm SmithAmundsen, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Fox Valley United Way. SmithAmundsen specializes in business and insurance defense.  In addition to Chicago and St. Charles, the firm has offices in Milwaukee, St. Louis, Rockford and Woodstock.

A labor and employment law specialist at SmithAmundsen and an Aurora resident, Proscia last year was named to the Illinois Rising Star list by Law & Politics magazine.

“Fox Valley United Way offers a unique opportunity to serve the community as a whole by devoting time to this one broadly based organization,” Proscia said.  “I’m pleased to be able to accept this position.”

A native Chicagoan who earned degrees from Eastern Illinois and Northern Illinois universities – she was awarded her JD from NIU, magna cum laude – Proscia served as assistant director of affirmative action and legal compliance in NIU’s human resources department, and later worked at another Midwestern law firm.  While in law school, she worked in the litigation division of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Proscia is a frequent presenter and author on employment law issues.

“We’re especially happy that we will have Julie’s insights and perspectives as part of our Board deliberations,” FVUW Board Chair Gail Bumgarner said in announcing Proscia’s election to the Fox Valley United Way Board.  “She brings an important breadth of experience to us.”
